School and Community
Lucy Craft Laney High School is a school rich in tradition and heritage founded by Ms. Lucy Craft Laney, a woman that held all students to the highest standards and brought out the best in them. In 1949, A. R. Johnson and Haines Normal and Industrial Institute came together to form what is now known as Lucy Craft Laney Comprehensive High School which works to carry on Ms. Laney’s tradition of holding students to high standards and bringing out their best selves to become productive citizens in the global society today. The merger of the two schools was seen as the best move for both schools. Because of the merger, the "wildcat" symbol was created as the school’s mascot and Red and Grey were established as the school’s colors.
Lucy Craft Laney High School stands as a community hub, embodying its values and providing crucial support. The active involvement of the Laney High School Alumni Association underscores the school's significance. Emphasizing positive relationships between staff and students, the institution prioritizes trust and creates an environment conducive to educational success. The school's ultimate mission, encapsulated in "W.I.N" – Working hard, Igniting purpose, and Never quitting – reflects a spirit of dedication. Lucy Craft Laney High School is a unique institution dedicated to honoring its past while tirelessly working towards a bright future for its students.

College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) is Georgia’s statewide accountability system. The CCRPI assesses how well students are prepared for college and careers, and ensures that schools are focused on improving achievement among all students. The index measures student achievement on indicators such as content mastery, student growth on progress, subgroup performance on closing gaps, and various areas including Lexile performance, attendance, and other academic based measurements. Schools earn CCRPI points based on indicators that vary by grade and school level and align with measures of college- and career-readiness. Each individual component score is on a scale of 0-100. Additional data for CCRPI can be found at this address: https://ccrpi.gadoe.org/
